Legal & Licensing

Last updated: August 3, 2026

1. Ownership

Dalang (formerly "Campaign Dashboard") is an independent project created and owned by Salahuddin (BukanPawkemon). All original code, design, artwork, and written content in this app belong to the creator, except for the third-party and licensed material listed below.

You are welcome to use, enjoy, and share Dalang. You are not permitted to resell, redistribute, or claim the app (or its source code) as your own work.

2. What You're Allowed to Do

When you download Dalang, you get a personal license to:

  • Install and run the app on your own devices
  • Use it to prepare and run your own tabletop campaigns
  • Create and use your own homebrew content (monsters, items, equipment) within the app
  • Export and share your own campaign data with your own players or other DMs

You are not permitted to:

  • Share or redistribute copies of the app itself, anyone who wants it should get it from the official source (itch.io / GitHub), not a copy from you
  • Resell or sublicense the app
  • Reverse-engineer the app in order to build and sell a competing product
  • Remove or alter copyright/attribution notices from the app

3. Third-Party Content (SRD / OGL)

Dalang includes reference content from the Dungeons & Dragons System Reference Document (SRD 5.1), made available under the Open Game License and Creative Commons licensing by Wizards of the Coast.

Dalang is an independent product and is not affiliated with, endorsed, sponsored, or specifically approved by Wizards of the Coast LLC or Hasbro. All D&D-related trademarks, including "Dungeons & Dragons" and "D&D," belong to their respective owners.

Some underlying open-source data used in the Compendium is vendored from the community-maintained 5e-bits/5e-database project (MIT licensed).

4. Homebrew & User-Generated Content

Dalang lets you create your own homebrew monsters, magic items, and equipment, and lets you write your own campaign content (locations, NPCs, quests, lore, notes).

All homebrew and user-generated content is created by you, the user, and is your own responsibility. This content is not reviewed, moderated, verified, or endorsed by the creator of Dalang. If you choose to share your homebrew or campaign files with others, you are responsible for what you share.

5. Privacy

Dalang runs entirely on your own device. All campaign data is stored locally in a file on your computer.

  • No account is required to use the app
  • No campaign data, homebrew content, or personal information is collected, transmitted, or stored on any server
  • The creator of Dalang has no access to your campaign data unless you choose to share it directly (for example, sending an exported file to someone)

6. No Warranty

Dalang is provided "as is," without warranty of any kind. While care is taken to avoid bugs and data loss, the creator cannot guarantee the app will be error-free or uninterrupted.

You are encouraged to back up important campaign files, especially before major updates. The creator is not liable for any data loss, corruption, or other damages resulting from use of the app.

7. Misuse of the App

Dalang is a tool for organizing and running tabletop roleplaying games. It has no built-in capability for illegal activity, and the creator does not build, endorse, or support any use of the app for unlawful or harmful purposes.

If a user misuses this app for illegal or harmful purposes, that responsibility belongs entirely to that user, not to the creator of the app. The creator is not liable for how individual users choose to use the software, in the same way a notebook manufacturer isn't responsible for what someone chooses to write in a notebook.

If you become aware of the app being used in a way that violates the law or causes harm, please reach out at dalang.support@gmail.com so it can be looked into.

8. Donations

Dalang is free to download and use. If you choose to leave a donation, it's voluntary and non-refundable, thank you for supporting the project. If something's not working right, reach out at dalang.support@gmail.com, most issues (bugs, confusion about features, etc.) can usually be resolved directly.

9. Changes to This Document

This page may be updated as the app develops. Significant changes will be noted with an updated "last updated" date at the top.
